Sensitive Teeth

A complaint that I get a lot is that patients have sensitive teeth, and they also have receding gums, and were told in the past that they were brushing too hard. We now know through various studies that patients who have sensitive teeth and receding gums usually are clenching or grinding their teeth. This generally happens when they sleep at night. It can cause root sensitivity and can cause decay at the gum line, and also wearing away of the teeth.

Our Solution

We have a fairly simple solution for that. We do a scan of your teeth, and we no longer need to do impressions. We do a scan, and then we make a mouth guard that a patient sleeps in that they put on their top teeth. This takes the blunt force of the clenching or grinding, rather than it wearing away your teeth while you wear the guard. This seems to be a great help to patients and it alleviates a lot of the issues that come along with clenching or grinding.
