I got the question: how do dentists clean teeth?
Typically you’ll have a hygienist clean your teeth. Your dentist will come in and do your exam either before or after your cleaning
The cleaning is made up of several different parts.
- Your hygienist is going to ask you if you’ve had any changes in your health history.
- Your hygienist will take any x-rays if you’re due to have them taken, or if you have a tooth that’s been bothering you.
- They will scale or use the cavitron to remove tartar from your teeth
- They’ll polish to remove plaque
- They’ll floss
Additionally, sometimes people that have deeper pockets in between their teeth need either a deeper cleaning or laser decontamination.
